Think you can make a short film in just 48 hours?

Star Central 48 is our fast-paced, all-heart filmmaking challenge where creativity meets the clock.

You and your team will write, shoot, and edit a short film between Friday evening and Sunday night. Once the clock starts, you’ll get a genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue that must appear in your film. From there — it’s go time.

Whether you're a student, indie filmmaker, or weekend dreamer, this is your chance to show what you're made of.

No excuses. No second takes. Just 48 hours of pure movie magic.

Timeline

Rules & Requirements

  • Exactly 48 hours. You’ll receive your prompt at 7:00 PM Friday and must submit your completed film by 7:30 PM Sunday. No exceptions.

  • A genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue — all must appear in your film to qualify.

  • No pre-written scripts or footage. You can gather gear, scout locations, and recruit your team ahead of time, but the creative process starts at kickoff.

  • Only if you own the rights or have proper licenses. You must submit music, materials, and location release info along with your film.

  • Films turned in after the 48-hour window are not eligible for judging or screening. Submit early to be safe.

  • Max: 10 minutes, including credits. Shorter is totally fine.

  • The Team Leader signs off on all waivers and certifies that rules were followed. They’re also the point of contact for any questions.

  • Yes! Just be sure to include a credit like:
    "This film was created as part of Star Central 48, a 48-hour filmmaking challenge."

  • Teams can have up to 5 members total, including the Team Leader. Keep it small, keep it focused
